Real Estate Investment A Gauge in the Economic Boom of A Community

Real Estate Investment A Gauge in the Economic Boom of A Community
ANY place on earth which has lots of investments will surely expect a real estate boom. Consider Northern Mindanao for example. Northern Mindanao is the part of the Philippines’ biggest island in its southern part. Northern Mindanao has a mixed culture of Roman Catholics largely influenced by the Spanish colonizers in the 15th century as well as Muslims who have been there since the Arabs have converted them some two millennia ago.

Northern Mindanao will soon be the site of the largest shipyard in the Philippines owned by the Hanjin Group of South Korea. Northern Mindanao will also open its international airport by 2011. Because of this, there are large chunks of real estate developments in strategic locations around the place, particularly in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental which are both nestled on plateaus. In uptown Cagayan de Oro, two big real estate developments are in full swing – Alegria Hills and Teakwood Hills. Another subdivision will soon rise in El Salvador City which is located west of Misamis Oriental. All have a commanding view of the Macajalar Bay. There is even another spot that has been discovered in a village called Indahag where the Laguindingan international airport can be seen in the distance.

Everybody in the United States knows that there is a huge mortgage crisis. But only urban and suburban housing units are affected with this hostage crisis. If you go deeper into the rural areas, the real estate industry is more booming than ever. Right this winter, the place to stay in the United States is Lake Tahoe. South Lake Tahoe has been the sight of recent brush fires, even destroying a few vacation homes of celebrities but this has not dampened the spirits of the individuals there. They have continued to rise from the ashes so to speak and the real estate sector there is now up in full swing. Vacation homes and mountain cabins continue to sprout especially in areas where there is a spectacular view of the lake like that one in the movie starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, The Lake House. But unlike the lake house in the movie, the one situated near Lake Tahoe experiences snowfall in the middle of winter. So that must indeed be a magnificent sight.

In Spain, the hottest properties nowadays are found in Salamanca and Valencia. Salamanca will be featured in a soon to be released movie in 2008 (it’s a thriller one so it must have generated much publicity in Salamanca even though the movie is shot in Mexico). The movie, Vantage Point, stars Lost topbiller Matthew Fox as the villain in the movie so fans will surely want to see the film with Fox as a villain. And movie fans will later see how Salamanca looks like as depicted in the movie. Of course, Salamanca looks amazing in the movie. That is one way to entice real estate buyers in that area.

Investing in Real Estate Around the World

Investing in Real Estate Around the World
WHERE do you want to invest in real estate or even just purchase a vacation home and make it as a business? I suggest that you invest in Spain. For Spain has a very relaxed policy when it comes to foreign ownership by an individual buyer. You will only pay two kinds of taxes - the annual income tax and the monthly garbage collection tax. There are many lots in Spain to choose from. You can choose to buy a vacant piece of land in any of the mountainous and plain areas in rural Spain. Or you can invest somewhere around the Pyrenees where tourists are descending these days just in time for winter sports this season. However, the Pyrenees are not crowded just this season. Even during summer, there are lots of activities in the Pyrenees as many Spanish people troop there to teach their kids the basic in skiing. It is ideal to teach the kids during summer because it is when their classes are over.

Besides, there are numerous activities and affairs here such as the casinos. So therefore it is a strategic call if you invest in properties for lease at the Pyrenees. If you want to hug the Mediterranean coastline, then there are lots of strategic places to invest too such as the one near the port in Marbella where it is destined to become the sports capital of Europe or the one near Valencia where America’s Cup will be held by 2009. In the northern part of Spain, there is also another hot tourist magnet - the Garabandal which is a haven for Roman Catholic believers because of the abundance of miracles they receive when they go to a pilgrimage there. Of course, they will be staying for several days at a vacation home when they come here.

Therefore, without question, you must decorate your vacation home and set the tone or the design for it. Do not make it a structure with so many scattered and inconsistent designs. Have a specific theme for it and hire an interior designer or professional decorator for that matter. The professional decorator must be in close coordination with the plumber or the electrician so that nothing serious in the structure will be altered without prior consultation to the people mentioned earlier. For example, if you’re having a vacation close to the beach resorts such as those found in Costa del Sol or Malaga, maybe you can build one that has a thatched roof to have that tropical or Carribean feeling. Be ingenious enough. Or if you’re having a condo unit in Madrid leased out, then have the occupant be impressed by not letting him or her feel the crampness of the place. One of the strategies you can use is to put lampshades around the house and cover them with pink coverings so they will glow pink in the dark. Maybe a room with a projection of the night sky adds attraction especially if the vacationers have children.

It is not just in the Iberian Peninsula though that you can invest in a home. Overseas in Spanish territories such as the Balearic island of Palma de Mallorca, there’s a growing trend of international visitors there and not just the ones coming from Europe. There are now Canadian tourists there who stay for two weeks or so before going back to their home country. Some have even opted to stay for a longer period of time because they cannot simply resist what nature has to offer them as a paradise. Near the African coast, there is also a Spanish tourist enclave called Tenerife. It is also very practical to invest properties there because of the growing number of tourists that have bee absorbed in this territory for years. But that’s just one country I’m talking about here. Throughout the world, investing in real properties will never be a losing option. There may be worries about foreclosures but they’re just temporary. Look at the big picture in the end.
